About Collège Alfred Saker
A Tradition of Excellence, A Future of Innovation
Our History
Created in 1953, that is, 72 years ago, this is the very first time that a woman has held this position of responsibility. As a reminder, Collège Alfred Saker in Douala is a private Protestant educational institution of the Evangelical Church of Cameroon that includes the Francophone, Anglophone, and Commercial Technical sections. It is located in Deido, in the 1st district of the city of Douala. The school was founded in 1953 in memory of the work of the British missionary Alfred Saker. It was officially inaugurated in 1958, and in 1960 it became a college under the name Collège Alfred Saker de Douala.
Over its 70 years of existence, Collège Alfred Saker de Douala has had several principals, including Pastor Thomas Ekollo (the very first principal of the college), Lucien Mandengue (the second principal), Reverend Dr. Kong Robert (the third principal), Same Theodore (the fourth), and Théodore Kotte (the fifth)… and today, a woman now serves as principal.
The motto of this institution is: Commitment – Participation – Responsibility – Trust.
Our Core Principles
Commitment
Commitment means giving consistent effort and dedication to every task, whether in academics, discipline, or personal growth. It reflects a student’s willingness to stay focused, push through challenges, and aim for excellence. When students are committed, they develop strong work habits and achieve meaningful results.
Participation
Participation involves actively engaging in the academic and social life of the school. It includes speaking up in class, joining clubs, contributing to group projects, and being present in school activities. Through participation, students build confidence, teamwork skills, and a sense of belonging within the school community.
Responsibility
Responsibility means taking ownership of one’s actions, duties, and decisions. It requires students to meet deadlines, respect rules, care for school property, and carry themselves with maturity. By practicing responsibility, students develop discipline, integrity, and the ability to manage their own lives effectively.
Trust
Trust is the foundation of healthy relationships within the school environment. It involves honesty, respect, and reliability in interactions with teachers, classmates, and staff. When trust is present, it creates a safe, supportive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and confident to grow academically and personally.
